'Dancing With the Stars' Week Two results show recap: Rick Perry gets a reprieve; Jake T. Austin eliminated
To the shock of many, even some of the judges, Rick Perry escaped elimination after spending the first two weeks of the season at the bottom of the leaderboard. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- With two hours to fill, the first elimination show of the 23rd season of "Dancing With the Stars" was a very thorough look back at everything that's gone into the first two weeks of the show. The night included previously unseen dress rehearsal and pre-performance footage from the first two weeks of competition; one-on-one interviews with this season's contestants; a lively, colorful performance by the entire professional troupe; and an exclusive segment showcasing the return of three of the show's Mirror Ball Trophy winners - Cheryl Burke, Derek Hough and Maks Chmerkovskiy. There were also live musical performances by Charlie Puth, Daya and Gavin DeGraw. In addition, there was a sneak peek at the new "Forever Country" video which features 30 of country music's biggest performers including Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Ronnie Milsap, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton. The big shock of the night was that Rick Perry managed to dodge elimination, and instead, another of this season's low-scoring dancers - Jake T. Austin, was sent home. Although Jake T. Austin and his pro dancer partner, newcomer Jenna Johnson, were never at the very bottom of the leaderboard, it all boiled down to the power of the vote. Austin mentioned during Monday night's competition that he hoped he wouldn't be eliminated the same week he performed to the theme song from his show "Go, Diego, Go!" NEXT WEEK: THE FACE-OFF COMPETITION.
