The story behind Kringle's Inventionasium at Tower City (video)
Kringle's Inventionasium at Tower city was created 10 years ago by two business partners after setting up for corporate Christmas parties got boring. Watch video CLEVELAND, Ohio - Kringle's Inventionasium was created 10 years ago by two business partners after setting up for corporate Christmas parties got boring. Jimmy Langa and Greg Markowitz started off running a traditional, German-Bavarian Christmas-themed decorating business. They would go to various corporate parties and set up large installations only to tear them down. That lasted for about a decade before the pair grew tired of it. "We were like: you know, we just need to throw our own party instead of decorating everyone else's," Langa said. "Let's just throw our own party and invite the people to come and see what we put up!" Langa, Markowitz, and one of Langa's friends from college then decided to start their own entertainment company that combined their decorating skills with newborn theatrical ideas. In 2006, the trio did just what they had wanted; they set up a huge holiday installation in the Tower Press Building on Superior Avenue and invited people to come check it out. The folks at Tower City saw the display and asked the three men to bring the 'experience' there. Kringle's Inventionasium, a Cleveland original, was born. Mr. Kringle's Inventionasium ushers you into Cleveland-original wacky Christmas world "I wanted to make everyone aware of their own magical abilities," Langa shared. "It's our goal to extend this magical place where everything is possible, and we make that quite clear to adults and kids." In their ten years of business, Langa and Markowitz have ushered in 20,000 annual visitors. (That's possible thanks to tours starting every six minutes.) Visitors can always expect something new and different added to the 'experience': this year, it's the Museum of Mysterious Masterpieces. This room is the first of its kind throughout the tour, allowing guests to express themselves artistically. Langa, Markowitz, and hospitality director Jake Hastings begin installing Kringle's Inventionasium in August, as shown in the video. Set-up lasts until the first run. This year, tours begin on Friday, Nov. 19. A complete schedule and admission information can be found on their website. Watch the video above to get a sneak peek of Kringle's Inventionasium; the nontraditional Christmas experience right in Cleveland's backyard!
