Cleveland police exchange gunfire with suspects; 1 person wounded
Three suspects were taken into custody, police say. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A suspect was wounded early Thursday morning after police exchanged gunfire with a group of men on the city's East Side. Police say officers responded to a FirstEnergy facility at the corner of East 146th Street and Miles Avenue just before 2 a.m. on a report of trespassing. After arriving, shots were fired at the officers, who then returned fire, police say. One suspect, an 18-year-old male, was wounded in the shoulder. The other suspects tried to run from police but three were caught. However, a fourth suspect remains at-large, police say. A handgun was recovered at the scene. The wounded suspect was taken to University Hospital for treatment. Two of the males arrested are 17 years old, and the third is an adult male whose age was not released. No officers were injured.
