Oklahoma teen arrested after driving 208 mph, reports say
The speeder topped out at 208 mph in a modified Mustang, reports say. OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- A 19-year-old Oklahoma man was arrested after leading state troopers on a chase in which he exceeded 200 mph, reports say. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper first clocked Hector Fraire going 84 mph in a heavily modified 2011 Ford Mustang on the Kilpatrick Turnpike, wsoctv.com reports. Troopers began pursuing Fraire as he tried to speed away, reports say. He was then clocked at 176 mph, then eventually hit 208 mph. The record qualifying speed in a NASCAR race is 212.8 mph, set by Bill Elliott at Talladega Superspeedway in 1987 in Talladega, Alabama. Troopers tell the Associated Press that Fraire tried to escape by turning off the lights of his vehicle, but he was pulled over at a red light. At that point Fraire reportedly dropped the keys to the Mustang out of the window. Fraire has been charged with reckless driving and felony eluding.
